Khorramshahr Port has been located in northwest of Persian Gulf where Arvand Rood and Karoon rivers join together. The geographic situation of the port is as follows: Longitude: 48°, 9' E and Latitude: 30°, 36' N. The port has been located on the lands formed by settlements of Arvand Rood during thousands of years and has an area of 230 hectares.

History of Khorramshahr Port:

 Khorramshahr Port, as a part of Khuzestan province and in neighborhood of Iraq, is a strategic region from the point of view of economical and political. The port is located at the end of west frontier Khuzestan province and its decks are located in Arvand Rood bank. The first commercial deck in Khorramshahr was exploited in 1919 for berthing the ocean ships. In the World War II, Khorramshahr port played an important role in overcoming the coalition forces because there had been constructed 6 additional decks for the time being. After the war, a new concrete jetty was built with 360 m length and 32.8 m width. The construction of the port was commenced in 1955, revised in 1958 and the allocated budget was increased in 1961. As a result of development projects, the jetty length was increased from 1,000 m to 1350 m and the number of decks increased to 19. On November 14th, 1992, after set up and put into operation of Deck No. 4 of Khorramshahr jetty, through a ceremony, after 12 years, the first vessel with more than 85 MT loading capacity was loaded to a destination in Kuwait. On December 21st, 1993, the first vessel, which had been launched from UAE, was entered to Khorramshahr Port destination with 160 MT goods consignment and berthed there. At present, the port has 9 jetty posts ready to exploitation and can accept vessels with 6 m draught. The daily consignment unloading capacity of Khorramshahr port is minimum 4,000 and maximum 6,000 MT.
