The need to a container terminal like Aprin becomes more important in light of ever-increasing demand for rapid, safe and appropriate container transportation of different goods, which necessities the logistics and provision of the infrastructure more than before. Among the best infrastructures, which is demanded nowadays due to development and extension of the global transportation, is construction of dry ports with more and more container storage facilities and spaces which are established to support the container ports and port terminals. Theses inland container depots (ICD's) have the needed equipment for unloading, loading and storage of empty and loaded containers and can support the ports by completion of transportation chain through increase of container storage facilities. The importance of such facilities in our country is evident; the long distance between our northern and southern sea ports, which is more than 2,000 km on one hand and, on the other hand, the ever increasing need of CIS countries to transit their goods through our country to reach to the international waters and the increase in non-oil exportation all make the importance of such facilities more than ever been.

Aprin, the First ICD in the Country:

Considering the geographic situation and population of Tehran and as it is located nearly in the middle of the north south corridor and also by taking into consideration of the fact that more than 40% of state industries are located in this province and it is connected to all countrywide road and railroad network, the first ICD in the country was established in this province in southwest Tehran.

Geographic Situation:

April region is located in southwest Tehran at 15th km of Tehran – Saveh Freeway, beginning of Eslamshahr in an area with more than 700 hectares which belongs to the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran and has valuable advantages.

The Role of Aprin ICD in Goods Transportation

 Considering the strategic economic and geographic situation of Iran and its connections to the CIS countries in north and to the Persian Gulf countries in the south, Aprin plays an important role in connection the north south corridor in terms of holding of transit goods.
